The perfect commute puzzle game loads fast, saves instantly, and never demands more than a few minutes at a time. That's a surprisingly specific set of needs, and not every popular puzzle title meets them.

I test these on the actual subway, dropping in and out of tunnels, because a game that pauses to phone home is useless underground. Tile Cascade passed easily — every level is local, and it resumes exactly where I left off.

The trick with puzzle games is pacing. Levels should get harder gradually, and there should be a low-stakes mode for the days you just want to zone out. The best ones offer both.
